Our Nairobi Media and Hiring Momentum
As 2024 draws to a close, I’m thrilled about the momentum we’ve built in Kenya and globally, showcasing Satlyt’s vision for the future of space technology, and how some of my media appearances are translating to an avalanche of amazing candidates for us to hire. Our recent engagements have allowed us to connect with diverse audiences, highlighting our mission and our roots. Here’s a deeper dive into our December milestones:
Kenyan Wall Street Podcast Appearance – December 9, 2024
I joined Eric Asuna on the Kenyan Wall Street podcast to discuss Satlyt’s journey, from inception to our current work networking satellites. The conversation explored our unique position as a space-tech startup with deep African roots and a global ambition. We also delved into the African space economy, emphasizing how technologies like ours can address challenges like data sovereignty and Earth observation. The podcast has been an excellent platform to raise awareness about Satlyt and the potential of space innovation in Africa. Listen to the episode here.
Lecture at the University of Nairobi – December 9, 2024
On the same day, I had the privilege of speaking to a packed auditorium at the University of Nairobi. The focus of the lecture was on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa, with an emphasis on the space industry. Sharing my journey—spanning Tesla, Google, and SpaceX—and how those experiences shaped Satlyt was an incredible opportunity to inspire the next generation of African tech talent. The students’ energy and curiosity reminded me why we do what we do: to show that world-changing innovation can come from anywhere, including Africa.
Silicon Xchange Early Stage Founders Panel – December 10, 2024
I joined other early-stage founders to discuss the highs and lows of building tech startups. The discussion touched on everything from fundraising to finding the right talent, with a unique focus on what it means to build from Africa for the world. I shared insights on balancing regulatory challenges, managing global operations, and building a team that reflects our values and vision. The session was a great reminder of the power of community in entrepreneurship.
